The 1200-year-old-pub named Sean’s Bar was established already in the year 900. It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest pub in Ireland and it hasn’t changed for centuries, from the sawdust on the floor to the cannon ball decorations and open turf fire. It’s located in Irish Athlone, next door to a 12th century Athlone Castle. It was originally known as “Luain’s Inn”. Research is ongoing into the title of “The Oldest Pub in the World”; so far, nothing older has been found.
