Stora Enso Oyj was formed by the merger of Swedish mining and forestry products company and Finnish forestry products company in 1998. The first share of the company dates back to 1288, and it is claimed that Stora Enso is thus the oldest limited liability company in the world. It is a global leading provider of renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wooden constructions and paper headquartered in Helsinki. Its goal is to develop products and services based on wood and other renewable materials and thus replace non-renewable materials. The company runs two startup programmes and it has been awarded as the most startup-friendly company in Finland in 2018.
