U Fleků is the only brewery in the Central Europe which has been continuously brewing for more than 500 years now. It was first mentioned in writing in 1499. By that time, this ancient house was named U dvou strak (Two Magpies House) and owned by maltster Vít Skřemenec, who founded his brewery right at this place. In 1762, Jakub Flekovský bought it from him and it was his surname that gave the house its name.
Today, U Fleků is the oldest minibrewery not only in Prague, but also in the whole country, and therefore makes a renowned spot of Prague and Czech beer lovers and one of the most famous Prague pubs. Famous names of the Czech culture have been making it their meeting spot and you can also find the first Prague beer museum here.
