Old Hunter’s Rye

Old Hunter´s RYE is a unique Czech drink with history dating back to the beginning of the 16th century. The basis of Old Hunter´s RYE is formed by carefully-selected rye distillate ageing in oak barrels along with natural dried-fruit infusions. The precise secret recipe and ratio of ingredients has been guarded for centuries. Besides the popular Old Hunter´s RYE, there is a drink of even more delicacy, Old Hunter´s RESERVE, which has aged to perfection. The unique process of double ageing in selected white oak barrels for a period of four years is the one thing distinguishing Reserve from Old Hunter´s RYE. RESERVE ages for a total of 4 years in oak barrels. For the first 3 years, the delicate distillate ages in selected white-oak barrels. Afterwards this distillate is blended with natural dried-fruit infusions and poured again into oak barrels for one more year. The result of this ageing is a fine whisky-like taste with a warm flavour of orchard fruit in the finish. Literally, a gentleman’s drink.

The original rye whisky matures for 7 years in oak barrels deep in the Green Tree Distillery cellar, five meters underground where it accepts the own story of the oldest European distillery. Blend master Roman Petruš personally takes care about the quality of rye distillate with a typically sweet aroma of freshly cut rye. The first four years it matures to the softness and fruity taste and only rye spirits from the best barrels according to the 4 + 3 recipe, they mature for another three years, which makes the whisky more complex and its uniqueness fully developed. After seven years, the exceptional Old Hunter´s SELECTION whisky is created. The number 7 is not only the number of years of maturation, but also a lucky number for those who are seduced by the delicate taste of the Winner of the World Whisky Masters 2020.

The exceptional taste of rye and vanilla from bourbon barrels. The whisky is aged for four years exclusively in oak bourbon casks. Selected bourbon casks impart the typical subtle vanilla flavour with a rich woody finish. The whiskies are sought after for their uniqueness and savoury rye bread flavour.
